At the heart of the Global School Foundation (GSF) plan is to help students develop into well-rounded individuals. The Global Indian International School (GIIS) fraternity helps students in this journey by providing an award-winning, holistic educational framework.
The framework makes up the fraternity's curriculum, teaching students to improve all areas of their being, not just academics.
But outside the classroom, the GIIS campus in Pune has had another goal for years now - to help make quality education more accessible and equitable.
That's where the 9GEMS Scholarship comes in.
Here is what you need to know about it in under five minutes:
The 9GEMS scholarship is also known as the 9GEMS Holistic Development Scholarship. The name comes from GIIS's 9GEMS holistic teaching methodology.
The technique focuses on developing a young mind beyond just academics.
The curriculum also covers co-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as music and sports, respectively. The goal is to help nurture academic, talent-based, and social skills among GIIS students.
Also, the Global Indian International School in Pune awards financial support based on merit. We'll cover the eligibility criteria for getting a 9GEMS scholarship a little later.
All GIIS scholarships are highly-regarded. But there is something special about the 9GEMS scholarship.
The most potent reason is that it opens a door for students to learn in a world-class curriculum in a well-recognised international school. The international curriculum at GIIS Pune has won several awards for its innovation and effectiveness. That includes the prestigious Golden Peacock for Innovative Product/Service in 2014 and the latest being the Times School Survey 2020 award for innovation.
For example, the school uses age-appropriate teaching techniques at all school levels, including in preschool, where the Global Montessori Plus teaching methods take the lead.
The scholarship runs over a one-year tenure. It can reduce your total annual fees by up to 20%. (For Academic Year 2020-2021). However, the exact amount depends on which category of successful applicants you are in.
So, what determines the 9GEMS scholarship category you get? Well, that brings us to the eligibility criteria for getting a 9GEMS scholarship in Pune.
You'll first need to be an Indian citizen. Then you'll need to be a CBSE student in any class from 6th to 12th.You'll also need to have gotten recognition from a credible organisation in any 9GEMS focus areas.
When you get recognition in an international event, you increase your category A scholarship chances. In that case, you'd get a 20% waiver on your fee amount (For Academic Year 2020-2021).
You'll qualify for Category B sponsorship if you perform outstandingly well in a national event, and Category C if you stand out in a state or regional event. Category B and C translate to getting 15% and 10% off your fees, respectively (For Academic Year 2020-2021).
No, Its a Talent based Scholarship
Students prove they are deserving when they perform consistently well in the year leading up to the application. Areas that impress the scholarship committee include recognition in leadership, entrepreneurship, performing arts, sports, and community service.
You'll be required to attach academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular documents with the scholarship application form. Of course, you'll need to complete the scholarship form. The system does not process incomplete applications. Then the GSF will usually respond to successful applicants within 10 days.
From there, you'll participate in an interview, which leads up to scholarship disbursal.
